What is RDS-Certified Down?

The RDS-Certified icon signifies that 100% of the corresponding product’s down adheres to the Responsible Down Standard. This means it’s certified as coming from a transparent, audited supply chain, and that it was made with ethically sourced down and feathers.

Care

With proper care, your down product can–and should–last a lifetime. One of the benefits of down is its ability to retain loft and resiliency year after year, even with heavy use. When synthetic options start to degrade within a couple seasons, your down jacket can last for many years.

If possible, pre-rinse products without detergent.

This helps to saturate the items allowing the detergent to penetrate the fabrics more effectively and get to the down clusters to clean them thoroughly.

Wash on low temperature.

There is a greater likelihood that the fabrics will require a lower temperature than the down itself. This also saves energy when it is not needed.

TUMBLE TRY

Tumble dry on low temperature until completely dry with clean tennis balls or a clean shoe.

If you think the item is dry, it is worth running one last dry cycle.

bleach or iron your down filled products.

That new down jacket has been through a lot and has probably been packed for a while during shipping. Putting it through a wash cycle without detergent followed by a thorough dry as soon as you get home will help boost it back to maximum loft right away.
